First post in a little while – and what better way to come back than with a cocktail (or three) while travelling in the USA! I had the pleasure of sampling the delicious new Specialty Menu at the American Airlines SFO Admiral’s Club, from which the bartender recommended I try the Jasmine (pictured).
First, a little look at which gins AA are serving in their lounges. Their well gin (read: free gin) is McCormick Gin, which is a bit of an overdose on coriander seed and frankly best left in the well .. the GIN is IN have a slightly more complementary review of the McCormick Gin if you wanted to find out a little more about it.
Once you start paying, things improve: AA currently serve the following gins in their SFO lounge:
- Bombay Dry Gin
- Bombay Sapphire
The recommended Jasmine cocktail is basically a gin take on the Cosmopolitan, using Bombay Sapphire and Cointreau as the hero ingredients. The remaining ingredients include cranberry juice, lemon juice and simple syrup – measures unknown, but if you take a Cosmo, replace the vodka with a heavy-handed serve of gin, you’ve more or less got it.
